The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) announced that over 2 million children are deprived of education and more than 90% of ten-year-old children in Afghanistan cannot read simple texts.
According to the organization, students “go to school but learn nothing”.
UNICEF attributed this situation to the weak and restrictive policies of the Taliban group in the education system.
The agency, in a joint report with UNESCO, declared that secondary education for both girls and boys is in crisis.
Severe teacher shortages, limited educational resources, frequent curriculum changes, and infrastructure weaknesses have severely impacted education quality.
UNICEF predicts that by 2030, nearly four million girls will be deprived of secondary education, with profound consequences for the country’s future.
