Sources have reported to Al Mayadeen network that thousands of armed militants with non-Syrian nationalities have been deployed in border areas between Syria and Lebanon These forces primarily consist of Uzbek, Chechen, and Uyghur nationals who were previously sent to Syria under Taliban supervision.
Reports indicate that these individuals received training at military camps in eastern Syria before being deployed to border regions. Their positioning amid escalating regional tensions signals the beginning of a new phase of threats in the area.
Analysts believe that the presence of these jihadist forces, trained under Taliban oversight, poses a potential threat to Lebanon’s stability and southern Syria. These developments highlight the Taliban’s expanding transnational influence from Afghanistan to the Middle East, raising concerns about regional security dynamics.
