Zalmay Khalilzad, former US Special Representative for Afghanistan Peace, welcomed Qatar’s efforts to extend the 48-hour ceasefire between the Taliban and Pakistan.
In his post, he announced that Qatar successfully convinced both countries to send their senior defense and intelligence officials to Doha for negotiations.
Khalilzad accused Pakistan of violating the ceasefire by attacking the Argun area in Paktika province, where 8 cricket players along with other innocent civilians were killed.
He reminded that Pakistan had previously expelled over one million Afghan refugees in a ruthless and sudden manner.
Khalilzad called on Pakistan to stop its attacks on Afghanistan and cooperate honestly with Qatar’s worthy efforts to establish peace.
He described Qatar as an honest mediator and questioned whether Pakistan is an honest neighbor or not.
