Ehsanullah, a 22-year-old kickboxer and national team member, was killed in a knife attack in Kunduz city’s Kocheh Sari Hawz area on October 17, 2025.
The athlete, originally from Kapisa province whose family relocated to Kunduz sixty years ago, held a brown belt and maintained an undefeated record in his sporting career.
Local sources attributed the killing to a verbal altercation between Ehsanullah and his attacker.
The athlete had been training in kickboxing for approximately seven years and was a member of the national team with no losses in his professional record.
The Taliban group has not yet commented on this incident.
This tragedy highlights concerning security conditions for Afghan athletes and underscores the ongoing challenges facing the sports community in the region.
