Ali Maisam Nazary, Head of Foreign Relations for the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan, accused Zalmay Khalilzad of supporting genocidal and totalitarian actors in Afghanistan through a post on social media platform X.
He stated: “For decades Mr. Khalilzad has been a proponent of genocidal and totalitarian actors in Afghanistan.”
Nazary added that just as Khalilzad worked to legitimize the Taliban terrorist group, he publicly praised brutal communist dictator Hafizullah Amin in a November 1979 interview.
He described Amin, who oversaw campaigns from 1978-1979 that killed tens of thousands of innocent people, primarily educated youth, as “a very energetic and hard working fellow.”
Nazary emphasized that individuals expressing support for regimes responsible for mass crimes must not be permitted to shape Afghanistan’s future.
He cited the Columbia Daily Spectator, Volume CIV, Number 40, dated November 8, 1979, as his source for the claim about Khalilzad’s comments on Amin.
