Mohammad Zaman Zaman, poet and cultural activist from Takhar province, died of heart attack Thursday night October 30, 2025 in Islamabad.
He had sought refuge in Pakistan after the fall of the republic.
Mr. Zaman was not only a poet and writer but also worked as a human rights defender and representative of Afghan migrants in Pakistan.
His relatives say stress from recent detention worsened his physical condition.
This Afghan poet and writer had been known for years in Afghanistan’s cultural and social spheres, working to support refugee rights and the migrant community.
