Ahmad al-Sharaa, head of the Syrian government, told The Washington Post that Israel has always claimed to be concerned about Syria because it fears threats from Iranian paramilitaries and Hezbollah.

He emphasized that they are the ones who drove those forces out of Syria.

Al-Sharaa added that Israel’s advances on Syrian soil do not stem from security concerns, but rather from its expansionist ambitions.

He said they are in direct negotiations with Israel and for reaching a final agreement, Israel must return to pre-December 8 borders.

The Syrian government head said regarding America’s role that the United States is cooperating with them in these negotiations and many international parties also support their position.

He added that Trump also supports Syria’s viewpoint and will strive to achieve a solution as quickly as possible.
