n exclusive report by Bazgasht News Agency reveals that since the beginning of the current solar year, at least 17 young girls in various provinces of Afghanistan have committed suicide after enduring public flogging by the Taliban group.

In the most recent case, Nasima, daughter of Abdul Ghayour, in Lalpur district of Nangarhar threw herself into the Kunar River two days after being flogged for running away from home.

A 19-year-old girl named Zahida in Shinwar district also hanged herself after being flogged.

Religious scholars and legal experts consider these actions a clear violation of human dignity and citizens’ rights, emphasizing that these punishments are carried out without a fair legal framework.

Women’s rights activists view these suicides as a symbol of structural violence against women in Afghanistan.
