Jan Achakzai, former Information Minister of Balochistan province in Pakistan, responded to the Taliban group’s decision to halt transit trade through Pakistan, saying this move would be very beneficial for Pakistan.

On November 12, 2025, he wrote on X network that this decision would stop smuggling, eliminate dollar shortages through the hawala system, and end terrorism transfer.

Achakzai emphasized that Pakistan would be able to transform the Durand Line into a completely secure border like the Wagah border and should keep its transit routes closed to Afghanistan.

He added that Islamabad does not need Afghanistan to access Central Asia, as it now uses the China/Kyrgyzstan route to reach Uzbekistan.
The former Balochistan Information Minister, referring to Allama Iqbal’s statement, declared that Afghanistan is no longer the heart of Asia but has become an international transit route for terrorism.

These statements come while the closure of border crossings between Afghanistan and Pakistan has caused enormous losses for traders.
