Mullah Rahmatullah Najib, Administrative Deputy of Taliban’s Interior Ministry, announced in a press conference that the Pakistani negotiating delegation had requested Afghan representatives to issue a religious ruling declaring the ongoing war in Pakistan as illegitimate.
The Administrative Deputy of the Interior Ministry added that the Taliban delegation responded by stating they do not consider it their right to declare the war in Pakistan legitimate or illegitimate, as it does not concern them.
According to him, the Taliban’s Dar al-Ifta is independent and issues rulings according to Islamic law.
This position comes as negotiations between the two sides in Istanbul have failed to reach results and tensions continue.
Pakistan has closed all transit and trade routes with Afghanistan for over a month, including the Torkham and Spin Boldak-Chaman crossings.
