Rawalpindi police in Pakistan has formed a special unit comprising 13 teams for daily arrests of undocumented Afghan migrants.
Each team includes four police officers, one detective, and security officials tasked with transferring detainees to holding camps before deportation to Afghanistan.
The senior police commander of Rawalpindi announced that due to disappointing police performance in cracking down on undocumented migrants, this special unit was established.
Over the past two days, 92 Afghan migrants have been arrested, and eight cases have been filed against landlords and tenants who failed to register rental details.
This action follows Pakistani government orders to continue crackdowns against Afghan migrants, with officials instructed to submit daily arrest reports by 9 PM The operation represents Pakistan’s intensified efforts to deport undocumented Afghan refugees amid ongoing regional tensions.
