The Taliban’s Supreme Court announced that two individuals, including a woman, were publicly whipped in Parwan province for alleged extramarital relations.
The punishment was carried out in Sayed Khel district in front of public witnesses.
Each person was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment and 39 lashes.
This action occurred despite ongoing international condemnation of the Taliban’s practice of public flogging across various provinces in Afghanistan.
In recent similar actions, the Taliban has whipped four more individuals in Nangarhar and Balkh provinces, sentencing them to prison terms.
These practices continue despite widespread global criticism and human rights concerns.
