Sara Adams, a former CIA officer, claims that Hibatullah Akhundzada, the Taliban leader, was attacked on November 10th at the central Jihadi school in Kandahar.
The attacker, identified as Hafez Sediqullah from Musa Qala district in Helmand, allegedly stabbed Akhundzada with a knife, injuring his right hand.
Sediqullah, who previously worked in the 215th Azm Corps of the Taliban’s Defense Ministry, was transferred to this Jihadi school in 2024 for training. He had access to the Taliban leader’s position during this period.
Following the attack, he was arrested by Akhundzada’s security detail and is reportedly under interrogation near Kandahar.
This incident highlights internal conflicts within the Taliban group that have existed previously and occasionally led to clashes and tensions among the group’s leaders.
The Taliban has not officially confirmed or denied these claims.
