The closure of the Torkham border crossing between Afghanistan and Pakistan has resulted in severe financial losses for traders from both countries.

According to reports, Pakistani traders in Rawalpindi and Islamabad have suffered losses worth tens of millions of rupees, bringing them to the brink of bankruptcy.

This border crossing, considered the most important trade route between the two countries, was closed following border clashes between Taliban forces and Pakistani border guards. Hundreds of trucks carrying food items, fruits, and vegetables are stranded on both sides of the border.

Afghan traders are also losing more than one million dollars daily. Many of these goods have either been spoiled due to lack of cold storage facilities or are being sold at very low prices.

Officials from both countries are working to resolve this crisis through negotiations.
