Abdul Sattar Hosseini, former parliament member, responded to Taliban’s Justice Minister’s statement that “flattery of Amir al-Momineen is mandatory for every Afghan,” saying: “This statement is not only an insult to a nation’s wisdom but also a clear betrayal of religion, reason, and human dignity.”
Hosseini emphasized that pure Islam recognizes servitude only to God, adding: “The Sharia that Taliban speaks of, if it makes flattery mandatory, is no longer Muhammadan Islam but Taliban Islam and has no value.” He also stated that the Taliban emir is neither elected by the people nor heir to religion, but rather a product of intelligence dealings and Pakistan’s creation.
He concluded with a warning: “The Afghan nation is awake and will sideline flatterers with awareness. The day is near when false emirs will be handed over to the people’s court.”
