Body (English): A new X (formerly Twitter) feature has revealed that the account of Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesman for Taliban leader Hebatullah Akhundzada, with over one million followers, is managed from the United States.
This raises possibilities such as Mujahid using a VPN or another person in the US running the account. He reportedly uses an iPhone, one of Apple’s most advanced and luxurious devices.
This is notable as the Taliban often promote their leaders’ simple lifestyles and claim caution with Western technology.
Yet, using an iPhone and having the account managed from the US or Europe presents a contrasting image.
Investigations also show that several accounts from European countries like the UK, France, and the Netherlands are systematically promoting pro-Taliban messages.
This trend has sparked concerns about the group’s media influence in the West.
