Syrian state media reported on Friday, November 29, that an Israeli airstrike on a southern Syrian village left 13 people dead. Damascus condemned the attack as “criminal” and strongly denounced Israel’s actions.

The Israeli army stated that six of its soldiers were wounded in the operation, with three seriously injured. According to Israel, the operation targeted members of Jamaat Islamiya, a Sunni Lebanese group accused of launching rockets from Lebanon, in response to militant fire.

This strike is considered one of the deadliest since the ouster of former President Bashar al-Assad last year. Israel claims its operations aim to keep militants away from its borders.
