Fawzia Koofi, women’s rights activist and former Afghan parliament member, stated at the Afghan women’s conference in Madrid that out of 260 orders issued by the Taliban, 161 are against women.
She emphasized that the Taliban have left no rights for Afghan women to strip away, with orders issued both in writing and verbally.
Koofi added that the Taliban allow women to beg but forbid them from becoming doctors, as being a doctor grants dignity to women.
She also rejected the Taliban’s claim of bringing security, stating that they are the cause of insecurity and war in Afghanistan.
The conference titled “Hear Our Voice” was held in Madrid, featuring key speakers including Michelle Bachelet and Richard Bennett.
Koofi thanked the Spanish government for supporting Afghan women’s rights.
