The UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has announced the completion of 525 new storage facilities for raisins, onions, and potatoes across Afghanistan.

Announced on Tuesday, December 16, this vital project was supported by funding from the World Bank.

These warehouses have been established in the central, northern, southern, and western regions of the country.

The initiative aims to significantly reduce post-harvest waste, increase crop resilience, and ultimately boost the income of local farmers.
A lack of proper cold storage has long been a major issue in Afghanistan, leading to the spoilage of agricultural goods.

These new facilities are expected to provide much-needed support to the agricultural sector and preserve farmers’ hard work.
