Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, has declared that recent talks between Islamabad and the Taliban held in Saudi Arabia concluded without any breakthrough.
He noted that this meeting, like previous attempts in Qatar and Turkey, failed to yield tangible progress.
The statement highlights the persistent diplomatic stalemate between the two neighbors. Despite various rounds of dialogue, significant differences remain unresolved, particularly concerning security issues and border management which have strained relations in recent months.
The failure of these talks underscores the widening gap between Pakistan and Afghanistan’s interim government.
Islamabad continues to press Kabul on security concerns regarding cross-border militancy, a contentious point that continues to hinder the normalization of bilateral ties.
