Former US envoy Zalmay Khalilzad has stated that the Taliban are prepared to negotiate a new security agreement with Pakistan.

Responding to recent comments by Pakistani officials, he suggested that a pact similar to the Doha Agreement would serve the best interests of both neighboring nations.

Khalilzad proposed that such a deal should commit both sides to preventing their territories from being used by groups like ISIS and the TTP against one another.

He also emphasized the importance of third-party monitoring to ensure compliance and build trust between Kabul and Islamabad.

Citing his recent conversations with Taliban leaders, Khalilzad confirmed their willingness to engage in these talks.

He noted that the “ball is in Pakistan’s court” and that this agreement could be a game-changer for regional stability and bilateral relations.
