The Taliban-run Breshna utility company has inaugurated three new power projects, including a 34-megawatt solar energy plant in Kabul’s Green Industries Park.
Abdul Bari Omar, the CEO, highlighted that these initiatives are funded entirely by domestic investment without foreign aid.
The projects also comprise a 126 MVA substation and a 220 kV transmission line. Officials stated that these efforts are crucial for energy independence and are expected to create direct employment for over 500 people.
Currently, Afghanistan relies heavily on imported electricity. The utility claims to have signed contracts for 1,250 MW of domestic power generation in the past year to reduce this dependency.
