Tajikistan’s National Security Committee reported that four militants were killed while attempting to cross from the Wakhan district of Badakhshan into Tajik territory. The clash occurred in the Shamsiddin Shohin district after the armed individuals refused to surrender to border guards. Authorities seized Kalashnikov rifles, communication devices, and ammunition from the scene.
Tajik officials have once again accused the Taliban of failing to secure the borders, stating that repeated armed incidents demonstrate a lack of commitment to regional stability. While Dushanbe asserts that the border situation is under full control, concerns regarding the infiltration of terrorist groups from Afghanistan persist.
This incident follows a similar clash in January (Jady), which resulted in the deaths of two Tajik border guards. Taliban officials have not yet commented on the event, but Tajikistan has launched a comprehensive investigation into weapons smuggling and illegal border crossings.
