Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, the leader of Hezb-e-Islami, has met with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim while receiving medical treatment in Kuala Lumpur. The Malaysian leader visited Hekmatyar at the hospital, referring to him as an “old friend” in a social media post and wishing him a speedy recovery.

His son, Habib-ur-Rahman, confirmed that his father’s health is stable and there is no cause for concern regarding his condition. This medical trip comes after months of reports indicating that the Taliban administration had placed travel restrictions on the veteran politician.

Hekmatyar, who chose to remain in Kabul after the Taliban takeover in 2021, has faced increasing pressure recently. After being evicted from his government residence and barred from leading Friday prayers, he has now managed to travel abroad for necessary medical checks.
