Residents of Jaghatu district in Ghazni have raised alarms about the critical condition of the historic “Begum” Minaret, stating the millennium-old structure is facing destruction. Natural disasters and official neglect have left this valuable cultural site on the brink of collapse, requiring urgent restoration.
Locals report that tourists frequently criticize the poor state of the minaret. They emphasize that the structure is not just a historical site but part of the region’s cultural identity, warning that without immediate attention from the current administration, this national heritage will turn to rubble.
Abdul Raziq, a resident, noted that past governments also failed to preserve the site. The community is urging the Taliban to take serious action to restore and protect the Begum Minaret before it is too late.
