The Taliban organized a funeral prayer at the Wazir Akbar Khan Mosque for a Chinese national killed in a recent ISIS suicide attack. The victim, a Muslim convert named Ayub, was killed when a bomber targeted a restaurant in Kabul’s Shahr-e-Naw area.
Police officials confirmed that six Afghans and one Chinese citizen died in the blast. Photos from the ceremony show Taliban members participating in the prayers alongside civilians, signaling support for the Chinese community.
China’s Foreign Ministry condemned the attack and urged the Taliban to enhance security for its citizens and projects. This incident marks the first major suicide attack by ISIS in the Afghan capital in over a year.
