Former NDS chief Ahmad Zia Saraj has warned that terrorist groups are using “safe havens” in Afghanistan to launch the second phase of their regional operations. He stated that these groups are systematically pursuing their goals beyond Afghan borders.
Reacting to the recent attack on Chinese nationals, Saraj noted that groups like ETIM and TTP have reached a consensus to turn Afghanistan into a terror hub. He pointed to rising incidents in Pakistan and at the Tajik border as evidence.
Saraj emphasized that ignoring these threats serves no nation’s interest. He argued that a unified, indiscriminate fight against all terror factions is the only way to secure the region from escalating violence.
