Former U.S. envoy Zalmay Khalilzad has expressed his amazement at the heavy snowfall reported in the Salang Pass.

Taking to social media, he highlighted reports of snow accumulating up to four meters high in this strategic mountainous region connecting Kabul to the north.

In his statement, Khalilzad remarked that the fervent prayers of the Afghan people for precipitation have finally been answered.

The country has faced severe drought conditions in recent years, making this massive snowfall a significant event for replenishing water reserves.
While the extreme weather conditions present challenges for travelers and transport across the pass, the snow is widely welcomed as a blessing.

The accumulation in Salang is crucial for agriculture and water supply in the coming seasons.
