Journalist Bilal Sarwary has highlighted the systemic exclusion of the Baluch ethnic minority from the Taliban’s government structure. In a post on X, he pointed out that despite a population of over two million, the Baluch community holds virtually no significant power, with the Mayor of Kabul being the sole exception.

Sarwary noted that while the Taliban relied on Baluch support in strategic areas like Bahramcha in Helmand during their insurgency, they have sidelined them since seizing power. Baluch commanders are reportedly relegated to low-ranking positions with zero influence on policy or decision-making processes.

The exclusion of the Baluch people contradicts the Taliban’s repeated claims of forming an inclusive government. This report adds to the growing evidence that the current regime remains heavily monopolized, leaving diverse ethnic groups across Afghanistan without political representation or voice.
