Andrei Serenko, a Russian political analyst, alleges in his new book “Taliban Intelligence Secrets” that the CIA and Taliban intelligence maintain covert cooperation. He claims secret meetings have occurred in Qatar and Saudi Arabia, and that the US is briefed on Taliban visits to Moscow. The book even suggests the Taliban invited the US to inspect Bagram Airbase to influence Donald Trump’s stance .
Furthermore, the book asserts that Taliban leaders are seeking a “Iron Dome” style air defense system to protect Mullah Hibatullah in Kandahar, reportedly turning to China for training. Serenko warns that jihadist groups in Afghanistan are regrouping for attacks in Central Asia and advises regional powers not to trust the Taliban regime .
