According to an official document, the Taliban’s supreme leader, Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, has issued a decree upgrading the Commission for the Restitution of Grabbed Land to a full ministry. This significant administrative shift indicates a tightening of control over land properties across the country.
The commission was previously led by Abdul Hakim Shara’i, the Minister of Justice, who has himself faced accusations of land grabbing in recent months. Until a permanent minister is appointed, Mawlawi Ehsanullah Wasiq has been named as the acting head of this newly formed ministry.
Copies of the decree have been sent to relevant departments, including Agriculture and Urban Development, complete with signature samples of the new leadership. Taliban spokespersons have yet to publicly comment on the creation of this new ministry.
