The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has warned that Afghan children returning from Iran are facing a deeply uncertain future and escalating humanitarian needs. Many families arrive at the borders completely exhausted and highly anxious.
Tajudeen Oyewale, a UNICEF representative, highlighted that nearly three million Afghans have returned from neighboring countries in 2025 alone. Unaccompanied minors are particularly vulnerable, facing severe risks of violence, malnutrition, and potential abduction along the way.
The international organization noted that the massive influx of returnees is overwhelming local healthcare systems and basic services. UNICEF is urgently calling for increased financial and medical assistance to protect these highly vulnerable families and their children. #UNICEF #AfghanRefugees #ChildrenRights
