Suhail Shaheen, the head of the Afghan political office in Doha, has strongly reiterated the current administration's right to claim Afghanistan's seat at the United Nations. He argued that after maintaining control for nearly five years, the UN representation legally belongs to the acting government.

Despite the passage of more than five years since the takeover, the United Nations has consistently refused to hand over the diplomatic seat. The international community continues to demand concrete improvements in human rights, particularly concerning women and girls, alongside the formation of a truly inclusive government.

Political analysts emphasize that the Afghan authorities must first address the legitimate demands of their own citizens. Experts suggest that reopening schools and universities for female students would effectively eliminate the international community's primary excuses for withholding official diplomatic recognition. #Afghanistan #UnitedNations
