The babies were born prematurely, about ten weeks before their expected due date, and are currently receiving intensive medical care. The hospital described this remarkable event as a very special moment for their maternity center and wished the infants a healthy life.
Giving birth to multiples in Afghanistan carries high risks due to the severe lack of advanced medical facilities. However, a similar rare case occurred last year when a woman from Jowzjan province also delivered quintuplets safely.
