Russian officials have announced that despite new restrictions on Iranian transit routes, the transportation of goods through the North-South corridor, including via Afghanistan, has significantly increased. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin confirmed this growing shift in trade logistics.
According to Khusnullin, disruptions in Iranian railway systems have prompted Russia to rely more heavily on alternative road networks. A significant portion of commercial cargo is now being redirected through the highways of Afghanistan and Central Asian countries instead of the Caspian Sea route.
The Russian official emphasized that the volume of transported goods continues to rise rapidly. Following recent US and Israeli strikes on Iran, traditional export and import pathways in the region have faced unprecedented challenges and severe disruptions.
