The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has announced that essential health services have been provided to over six thousand flood-affected individuals in Afghanistan. The recent heavy rainfall and floods have caused widespread casualties and immense destruction.
According to OCHA reports, thousands of homes have been completely destroyed, and critical infrastructure such as roads and bridges severely damaged. Urgent needs for over thirty thousand people have been verified, and the World Food Programme has distributed food assistance across multiple provinces.
The medical services provided include emergency care, maternal health support, and nutrition programs. However, OCHA warned that logistical challenges and severe funding shortages are significantly slowing down the delivery of aid to the most vulnerable populations.
