The senator emphasized that these Afghan citizens risked their lives for two decades to support the United States military. He argued that deporting them to an unfamiliar country or forcing their return to Afghanistan is completely unacceptable.
Currently, over a thousand Afghan refugees, including former interpreters, commandos, and young children, remain stranded in a Qatari camp. Advocacy groups continuously warn that sending them back under the Taliban government would expose them to severe retaliation.
