The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) has once again urged the Taliban government to lift the ban on girls education. On the International Day of Girls in ICT, the organization warned that millions of Afghan girls remain deprived of schooling.
According to UNAMA, the continuation of this ban has denied an entire generation access to formal education. The mission emphasized that education is absolutely vital for a stable future and employment opportunities in Afghanistan.
The Taliban government has banned girls from secondary and university education since 2021. The UN warns that these restrictions have affected over two million girls and inflicted a heavy blow on the country economy and workforce.
