Human Rights Watch has reported that the restrictive policies imposed by the Taliban government on women are no longer confined to Afghanistan. The organization highlights ongoing efforts to silence the voices of Afghan women living abroad.
Fereshta Abbasi, a researcher for the organization, noted that Afghan women face mandatory hijab and specific conditions even when appearing in foreign media. She revealed that she was recently asked to have a man speak on her behalf during an interview.
The report emphasizes that freedom of speech for women has been severely curtailed. Women are excluded from social activities, and in many regions, female journalists are completely banned from working.
