United Nations agencies have announced in a new report that the number of people facing catastrophic hunger has surged significantly. The statistics reveal that severe global hunger has increased ninefold compared to previous years.
According to the report, the hunger crisis is concentrated in a few specific countries, with Afghanistan considered a major hotspot. Millions of children across the world are also struggling with acute and severe malnutrition daily.
Climate change and economic instability could further worsen the dire situation in countries like Afghanistan. Previously, warnings were issued that more than seventeen million Afghans are currently facing extreme and life threatening food insecurity.
