A group of US senators has strongly urged the government to halt any plans to transfer Afghan asylum seekers to the Democratic Republic of Congo. They warned that such a controversial move would severely endanger the lives of former American allies.
In a formal letter signed by twenty-two senators, it was highlighted that over a thousand Afghans are currently waiting in Qatar. Many of these individuals bravely worked as interpreters and essential support staff for the US military forces during the war.
