Tajikistan State Committee for National Security announced that the recent deportation of several Afghan citizens was strictly due to severe violations of the country laws. The agency stated that these individuals committed various crimes despite having access to residency and employment.
According to Tajik authorities, the registered offenses include drug trafficking, involvement in terrorist groups, possessing fake documents, and murder. A recent criminal incident involving an Afghan citizen accused of murdering a Tajik woman in Khujand sparked significant local outrage.
However, Afghan refugees claim that Tajik police have intensified forced arrests and relocations. Migrants report that dozens of families, even those possessing valid UN refugee documents, have been forcibly moved to camps in Dushanbe and face imminent deportation.
