The International Federation of Red Cross stated that six months after the deadly earthquake in Kunar province, over 221,000 people still require urgent assistance. This disaster struck amidst an ongoing economic crisis in Afghanistan.

Reports indicate the earthquake caused more than 2,000 fatalities and left thousands injured. Many homes were destroyed, forcing families to live in temporary shelters with limited access to safe water and healthcare. Women and children remain the most vulnerable groups.

Despite initial distribution of hot meals and health services, aid agencies warn of a severe funding shortfall. Currently, only a small portion of the emergency budget has been secured to support the affected populations.
