Former Jihadi leader Mohammad Mohaqiq issued a strong warning following the reported beating of a Shia religious scholar by forces of the Taliban government. He emphasized that religious pressures on Hazara citizens are dangerously widening social rifts in the country.

Mohaqiq urged the Taliban government to stop violating the personal privacy of the Hazara and Shia communities, warning them not to add fuel to the fire of ongoing conflicts. He noted that the Jafari school of thought has been marginalized recently.

Reports emerged that morality police from the Taliban government physically assaulted a prominent Shia scholar simply for officiating a marriage contract before the formal wedding ceremony. The Supreme Shia Commission has officially confirmed this deeply concerning incident.
