The International Crisis Group reported that Afghan women are increasingly turning to online businesses and home-based enterprises in response to severe restrictions imposed by the Taliban government. These digital ventures have become a crucial lifeline for sustaining their families' livelihoods.

The comprehensive report highlights that following bans on education and public sector employment, social media and internet sales have transformed into vital spaces for women. Most of these resilient female-led businesses focus on handicrafts, tailoring, clothing production, and food processing.

While acknowledging the intense challenges female entrepreneurs face, the International Crisis Group urged the global community to provide financial support and digital literacy training. The organization stressed that economic empowerment remains one of the few viable ways to support Afghan women directly.
