A high-ranking Taliban government delegation, led by Minister of Mines and Petroleum Hidayatullah Badri, traveled to Turkmenistan on Thursday. The diplomatic trip primarily focuses on advancing the TAPI natural gas pipeline project and related regional energy initiatives.

During their visit, the delegation discussed land acquisition in Afghanistan, export gas pricing, and project timelines with Turkmen officials. They also toured the Turkmengaz state company, the Turkmenbashi port, and various transit facilities across Turkmenistan and neighboring Kazakhstan.

The TAPI pipeline aims to transport Turkmen natural gas through Afghanistan to Pakistan and India. Interestingly, this international trip occurs while several Taliban officials, including Badri, remain heavily sanctioned and listed on the United Nations Security Council's travel ban roster.
