Local officials from the Taliban government in Baghlan province have reported that intense rainfall and sudden deadly floods have killed at least eleven people across multiple districts. These devastating natural disasters have also caused widespread financial and structural damage to the region.
The disaster management authority confirmed that over two hundred residential homes have been partially or completely destroyed by the rushing waters. Additionally, thousands of acres of valuable agricultural land belonging to Afghan farmers have been entirely washed away.
Afghanistan remains one of the world's most vulnerable countries to the harsh impacts of climate change and extreme weather. Since the beginning of the spring season, hundreds of citizens have tragically lost their lives to severe flooding nationwide.
