Hannah Neumann, a prominent member of the European Parliament, has fiercely opposed the possibility of hosting formal discussions between European Union officials and the Taliban government in Brussels. She strongly warned that such a controversial move would severely undermine the international credibility of the EU and inadvertently help legitimize the group.
The European official wrote on her social media account that inviting representatives of the Taliban government is not merely a simple technical process, but rather a massive political victory for them. She sharply criticized the potential issuance of visas for this delegation as an extremely hypocritical action while opponents remain stranded.
Previously, the European Commission had confirmed its intentions to host a delegation from Kabul to systematically review the deportation process for Afghan asylum seekers. Reports indicate that in exchange for accepting these deported migrants, Taliban government authorities are aggressively demanding increased diplomatic presence and greater formal access across Western European countries.
