The World Food Programme has officially announced in its latest weekly report that employment opportunities across Afghanistan continue to deteriorate significantly. Although the prices of certain essential food items have slightly decreased, the overall job market remains extremely weak due to fierce competition among laborers and the massive influx of returning migrants.

According to the comprehensive report, daily wage laborers are currently finding work for an average of less than two days per week. This alarming figure represents a steep twenty percent decline compared to the exact same period last year, placing immense financial strain on household incomes and basic survival throughout the entire nation.

This United Nations agency further adds that despite relative stability in the currency market and the sustained value of the Afghani, people's purchasing power has plummeted drastically. The cost of many essential food commodities such as wheat, rice, and sugar has notably increased compared to last year, severely threatening long-term food security.
