The UN Refugee Agency has highlighted in its latest "Global Trends" report that Afghanistan remains at the very heart of the worldwide displacement crisis. Although the global number of displaced individuals slightly decreased for the first time in a decade, the figures are still unacceptably high.
According to the newly released data, millions of people were forced to flee their homes in 2025 due to ongoing wars, violence, and persecution. The UN emphasized that over seventy percent of all refugees requiring international protection originate from just a few nations, prominently including Afghanistan and Syria.
The agency is urging the international community to adopt sustainable long-term solutions. While emergency humanitarian aid saves lives temporarily, the ultimate goal must be providing refugees with the necessary tools and opportunities to build independent futures.
